Successive holders
Maître Jean Louis KNOBLOCH: from 1784 to 1819. He was appointed by the Mayor of Strasbourg as special officer for the conservation of the archives of the Strasbourg Chamber of Contracts. He was entrusted with the final custody of the archives in 1801.
Maître Jean Jacques WEIGEL from 1819 to 1836.
Maître Joseph Alphonse-Fortuné TINCHANT from 1836 to 1843.
Maître Chrétien-Charles-Auguste ROESSEL from 1843 to 1862.
Maître Charles Victor HOLTZAPFFEL from 1862 to 1885. He was secretary of the Chamber of Notaries of the judicial district of Strasbourg.
Maître Antoine KELLER from 1885 to 1919. German by birth, he was President of the Chamber of Notaries of the judicial district of Strasbourg. He was also editor-in-chief of the journal "Notariatszeitschrift für Elsass-Lothringen" which appeared from 1881 to 1918.
Maître François Félicien HEIM from 1919 to 1945. He was secretary and then rapporteur of the Chamber of Notaries of the judicial district of Strasbourg.
Maître Henri HAUMESSER from 1945 to 1973. Decorated with the Legion of Honour, he was a very active member of the Chamber of Notaries of the Bas-Rhin and became its President. He was also President of the regional council of notaries from 1962 to 1964.
Maître Robert RIEDEL from 1973 to 1979. He was President of the Chamber of Notaries of the Bas-Rhin, but also Director of the Notary School and the Professional Training Centre of Strasbourg from 1973 to 1985.
Maître Roland SCHMITT from 1979 to 1985. He was a member of the Chamber of Notaries of the Bas-Rhin and the Interregional Council of Notaries.
Maître Jean-Marie OHNET from 1987 to 2020. President of the Chamber of Notaries of the Bas-Rhin, he was also for many years Director of the Professional Training Centre of Strasbourg and President of the Institute of Legal Studies of the Conseil Supérieur du Notariat.
Mr Valentin SCHOTT created with his colleague in 1991 the "Société Civile Professionnelle Jean-Marie OHNET et Valentin SCHOTT, notaires associés" which became the holder of the office. When Jean-Marie OHNET retired, he joined forces with the three salaried notaries of the office, Valérie SCHWAAB, Catherine GILLET and Yannick SCHOTT, who were all trained at the office.
